A fun and interactive afternoon wine tour exploring the “Valley of the Vines” Gibbston region.
Get a true taste of the region on this relaxed and interactive Queenstown wine tour, perfect for an afternoon escape into the renowned Gibbston Valley wine region, famously known as the “Valley of the Vines”. This small-group experience is ideal for those looking to discover Central Otago wines in a shorter timeframe without compromising on quality.
Spend the afternoon visiting three carefully selected boutique vineyards in Gibbston Valley, each offering a unique perspective on the region’s world-class cool-climate wines. A highlight of the tour is a guided visit to New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery, providing a fascinating insight into local winemaking.
Enjoy a variety of wine tastings, sampling a range of premium varietals including Central Otago’s famous Pinot Noir. One of the tastings is accompanied by a shared cheeseboard, perfectly complementing the wines and enhancing the overall tasting experience.
Travel in comfort while your knowledgeable Wine Guide provides engaging commentary throughout the journey. Learn about the history of this pioneering wine region and its transformation from a handful of vines into one of the world’s most respected Pinot Noir producers.
Children aged 6–17 years are welcome on our Boutique Wine Tour. However, guests under 17 years are not permitted inside the Gibbston Valley underground wine cave.
For the Classic Wine Tour, children may join if they are able to remain in the Gibbston Valley cellar door with the guide while parents participate in the cave tour (approximately 30–45 minutes).
Children of all ages are welcome on private wine tours. Alternatively, we can arrange a cellar door tasting or substitute Gibbston Valley Winery with another vineyard upon request.

The Central Otago wine region spreads from the outskirts of Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin through picturesque valleys and dramatic gorges to the rolling vine-clad foothills of Bannockburn and beyond.
The region itself is broken into six wine sub-regions. Two of our Daily Wine Tours visit three contrasting wine sub-regions, each with their own distinctive soils, elevations and characteristics; all producing excellent aromatic and burgundy wine types.
Our carefully crafted Daily Wine Tours ensure you experience the best of the southernmost wine producing region in the world.
Tours run every day with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 adults ensuring a personalised yet social day out.
The vineyards we visit on all of our tours change daily and vineyards can be requested. Tours may include Mt Difficulty, Kinross, Amisfield and Gibbston Valley Winery.
Whether you would prefer to be immersed in Central Otago’s wine culture for a full day, half day, or savour the taste for an afternoon, you have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge from our passionate Wine Guides – local knowledge, history and everything wine!
