A fun and interactive afternoon wine tour exploring the “Valley of the Vines” Gibbston region.
This small-group Central Otago wine tasting tour is perfect for visitors looking to enjoy a high-quality wine experience in a shorter timeframe, without compromising on depth, variety, or personalised service.
Spend the afternoon visiting three carefully selected boutique vineyards in Gibbston Valley, each offering a unique perspective on the region’s world-class cool-climate wines. A highlight of the tour is a guided visit to New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery, providing a memorable insight into the winemaking process and the region’s distinctive terroir.
Guests will enjoy a range of premium wine tastings, including Central Otago’s internationally acclaimed Pinot Noir, along with other varietals that showcase the diversity of the region. One of the tastings is paired with a shared cheeseboard, enhancing the overall Queenstown wine tasting experience with complementary local flavours.
Travel is in comfort aboard a luxury Mercedes-Benz minivan, while your expert wine guide delivers engaging commentary on the history, landscape, and evolution of Central Otago’s wine industry. From its early beginnings to its reputation today as one of the world’s leading Pinot Noir regions, this tour offers both an educational and enjoyable experience.
Children aged 6–17 years are welcome on this Queenstown wine tour, although restrictions apply at certain venues. Guests under 17 are not permitted inside the Gibbston Valley underground wine cave, and must remain in the cellar door under supervision while the cave experience takes place (approximately 30–45 minutes). Private wine tours offer greater flexibility for families, including the option to substitute wineries or arrange alternative tasting experiences to suit all ages.

The Central Otago wine region spreads from the outskirts of Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin through picturesque valleys and dramatic gorges to the rolling vine-clad foothills of Bannockburn and beyond.
The region itself is broken into six wine sub-regions. Two of our Daily Wine Tours visit three contrasting wine sub-regions, each with their own distinctive soils, elevations and characteristics; all producing excellent aromatic and burgundy wine types.
Our carefully crafted Daily Wine Tours ensure you experience the best of the southernmost wine producing region in the world.
Tours run every day with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 adults ensuring a personalised yet social day out.
The vineyards we visit on all of our tours change daily and vineyards can be requested. Tours may include Mt Difficulty, Kinross, Amisfield and Gibbston Valley Winery.
Whether you would prefer to be immersed in Central Otago’s wine culture for a full day, half day, or savour the taste for an afternoon, you have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge from our passionate Wine Guides – local knowledge, history and everything wine!
