 Queenstown and Central Otago Wine Tours

The Central Otago wine region spreads from the outskirts of Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin through picturesque valleys and dramatic gorges to the rolling vine-clad foothills of Bannockburn and beyond.

The region itself is broken into six wine sub-regions. Two of our three small-group tours visits three contrasting wine sub-regions daily! Each region has its own distinctive soils, elevations and characteristics; all producing excellent aromatic and burgundy wine types.

Utilising our twenty years of experience leading wine tours in Central Otago, we have carefully crafted our Daily Small-Group Wine Tours to ensure you experience the best of the southernmost wine producing region in the world.

Our premium, personalised, small group wine-tasting tours take you from Queenstown to Gibbston and on to the very heart of the Central Otago wine region to explore vineyards based in Bannockburn and Cromwell. Tours run every day with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 adults.

The vineyards we visit on all of our tours change daily and vineyards can be requested. Tours may include Mt Difficulty, Chard Farm, Amisfield and Gibbston Valley Winery.

Whether you would prefer to be immersed in Central Otago’s wine culture for a full day, half day, or savour the taste for an afternoon, you have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge from our passionate wine guides – local knowledge, history and everything wine!

Gourmet Food and Wine Tour

An indulgent and diverse full day tour showcasing the very best sights and tastes from the Central Otago region. Let your experienced wine guide lead you on a tasting journey through the three contrasting Central Otago wine sub-regions of Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell.

Take a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest wine cave and take part in a beautiful cheese and wine pairing inside the cave!

Visit 3 premium vineyards and a special lunch venue extensively sampling the region’s renowned cool-climate wines. Indulge in a 5-dish gourmet lunch cooked in retired French Oak Pinot Noir wine barrels and perfectly matched with wines. You will also be given artisan chocolates to enjoy or take home with you.

Take a step back in time and retrace history by discovering the historic settlements of Old Cromwell and beautiful Arrowtown.

Boutique Wine Tour

11am – 4.30pm (5.5 hours)

Our signature tour covering three contrasting wine sub-regions

Relax as your wine guide immerses you in an afternoon amongst the boutique vineyards and splendid scenery of Central Otago.

You will visit four premium vineyards over three contrasting wine regions, taste and learn about the excellent wine varietals and enjoy a delicious shared platter lunch with complementing wine of your choice.

The local pioneering history is fascinating and the meander through Old Cromwell Town charming and a true step back in time.

Some wineries are producing amazing craft beers as well! If there is someone coming along who would prefer beer, please let us know and we can try to accommodate.

Classic Wine Tour

1:30pm – 5:00pm (3.5 hours)

A great in-depth taster tour around Gibbston, the “Valley of the Vines”

$169 per adult

Your wine guide will whisk you away to Queenstown’s neighbouring wine region, Gibbston, where you will spend the afternoon leisurely exploring three varying cellar doors, including New Zealand’s largest wine cave.

Sample fine wines from multiple differing wine regions and enjoy a shared cheeseboard which will accompany one of the tastings.

Enjoy a full running commentary from your guide and be sure to ask questions, they revel in sharing their knowledge.

This is the tour for you if you wish to unwind from a busy holiday schedule but still experience the best of the region.

There can be the option to taste some craft beers on this tour when we are notified in advance. Simply mention this in the comments section upon booking and we can try to include a winery/brewery option.

Queenstown Highlights Tour

9:30am – 12:30pm (3 hours)

The ultimate sightseeing tour full of Queenstown and Arrowtown sights and attractions

$109 per person (15+ yrs)

Sit back, relax and soak up the scenic sights on this morning of guided sightseeing. Begin high above Queenstown taking in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful Lake Wakatipu.

Enjoy the scenery of the Wakatipu Basin on your way to the historic Bungy Bridge. Venture into the “valley of the vines” for a wine tasting at Gibbston Valley Winery. Be wowed by the dramatic Kawarau Gorge as you view a Lord of the Rings film location and watch daredevils bungy jump from the famous Kawarau Suspension bridge.

Spend time exploring the 1860’s gold rush history and the picturesque colonial architecture of Arrowtown, before finishing the morning exploring life on a working sheep farm with a visit to Mt Dewar farm.

Each tour is hosted by our friendly local guides with small intimate groups sizes.

Full-Day Sights and Wine Tour

9am – 5pm (8 hours)

Showcasing the best sights and wine from the Queenstown, Arrowtown and Gibbston areas

A full-day immersion into the local sights, wine and cuisine of the region. Begin with a morning of guided sightseeing around both hidden and iconic location attractions.

Enjoy a gastronomic three-course lunch experience at the acclaimed Amisfield winery. Note that lunch at Amisfield is subject to availability, and excellent restaurant alternatives are available.

After lunch, your wine guide will whisk you away to Queenstown’s neighbouring wine region Gibbston, known as the “valley of the vines”, where you will spend the afternoon leisurely exploring 3 varying cellar doors, including New Zealand’s largest wine cave.

You will sample wines from multiple wine regions and relax with a sumptuous cheese platter and accompanying glass of wine.

Enjoy a full running commentary from your guide and be sure to ask questions, they revel in sharing their knowledge.
