 Queenstown and Central Otago Wine Tours

The Central Otago wine region spreads from the outskirts of Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin through picturesque valleys and dramatic gorges to the rolling vine-clad foothills of Bannockburn and beyond.

The region itself is broken into six wine sub-regions. Two of our Daily Wine Tours visit three contrasting wine sub-regions, each with their own distinctive soils, elevations and characteristics; all producing excellent aromatic and burgundy wine types.

Our carefully crafted Daily Wine Tours ensure you experience the best of the southernmost wine producing region in the world.

Tours run every day with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 adults ensuring a personalised yet social day out.

The vineyards we visit on all of our tours change daily and vineyards can be requested. Tours may include Mt Difficulty, Chard Farm, Amisfield and Gibbston Valley Winery.

Whether you would prefer to be immersed in Central Otago’s wine culture for a full day, half day, or savour the taste for an afternoon, you have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge from our passionate wine guides – local knowledge, history and everything wine!

All tours include:

  • Admissions and wine tasting fees
  • Either lunch and /or a cheese platter (as stated for each tour). All dietary requirements catered for.
  • Expert Wine Guides with fascinating commentary on wine, local sights and early history of the region

Gourmet Food and Wine Tour

9.30am – 4.00pm (6.5 hours)

$269 per adult

Experience an indulgent and diverse full day tour showcasing the very best sights and tastes from the Central Otago region. Let your experienced wine guide lead you on a tasting journey through the three contrasting wine sub-regions of Gibbston, Cromwell and the Bannockburn basin.

Enjoy a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery, and savour a unique 5-dish gourmet lunch cooked in retired oak barrels and perfectly matched with 5 wines enjoyed at The Stoaker Room restaurant.

You will also have an opportunity to retrace history with visits to the historical settlements of Arrowtown and Old Cromwell (when time permits). Learn about the early pioneering history and how the wine region was formed through an array of fun facts and interesting stories from your knowledgeable wine guide.

For your final indulgence of the day, you will be given some artisan chocolates to enjoy before returning to your accommodation.

Boutique Wine Tour

11.00am – 4.30pm (5.5 hours)

Discover world-class wines on this fun and interactive wine tour offering a great taste of Central Otago’s wine, history, sights and cuisine.

Enjoy tastings from four premium vineyards over three contrasting wine sub-regions; Gibbston and the lesser-known Cromwell and Bannockburn basin.

Stop in for lunch at a vineyard restaurant and take a tour around the vineyard, barrel hall and see the wine-making facilities. Savour a delightful platter-style lunch made with locally sourced produce and accompanied by a flight of wines to taste.

Sit back and relax in our luxury minivans, and take in the sights while our specialist Wine Guide provides a full commentary on the wine, sights and early history, ensuring an entertaining drive with plenty of photo opportunities along the way.

Some wineries are producing amazing craft beers as well! If there is someone coming along who would prefer beer, please let us know and we can try to accommodate.

Classic Wine Tour

1.30pm – 5.00pm (3.5 hours)

$169 per adult

Let one of our experienced Wine Guides whisk you away to Queenstown’s neighbouring wine region, Gibbston, aptly known as the “Valley of the Vines”. Spend the afternoon visiting three selected vineyards including a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave.

Sample fine wines from multiple differing wine regions and enjoy a shared cheeseboard which will accompany one of the tastings.

Enjoy a full running commentary from your guide and be sure to ask questions, they revel in sharing their knowledge.

There can be the option to taste some craft beers on this tour when we are notified in advance. Simply mention this in the comments section upon booking and we can try to include a winery/brewery option.

Queenstown Highlights Tour

9:30am – 12:30pm (3 hours)

Sit back, relax and soak up the scenic sights on this morning of guided sightseeing. Discover the thrill of the Bungy!  Watch intrepid jumpers from the viewing deck, and feel the adrenaline as they plummet at a height of 43 metres!

Stop in into the “Valley of the Vines” Gibbston wine region for a wine tasting at Gibbston Valley Winery.

Spend time exploring the 1860’s gold rush history and the picturesque colonial architecture of Arrowtown with time to wander the main street and explore the Chinese Village.

Finish with breath-taking panoramic views from the Coronet Saddle lookout and wind your way back to town via the Shotover River Gorge.

Full-Day Sights and Wine Tour

9am – 5pm (8 hours)

Showcasing the best sights and wine from the Queenstown, Arrowtown and Gibbston areas

A full-day immersion into the local sights, wine and cuisine of the region. Begin with a morning of guided sightseeing around both hidden and iconic location attractions.

Enjoy a gastronomic three-course lunch experience at the acclaimed Amisfield winery. Note that lunch at Amisfield is subject to availability, and excellent restaurant alternatives are available.

After lunch, your wine guide will whisk you away to Queenstown’s neighbouring wine region Gibbston, known as the “valley of the vines”, where you will spend the afternoon leisurely exploring 3 varying cellar doors, including New Zealand’s largest wine cave.

You will sample wines from multiple wine regions and relax with a sumptuous cheese platter and accompanying glass of wine.
