Experience an indulgent and diverse full-day wine touring adventure showcasing the very best sights and tastes from the Central Otago region. Your experienced wine guide will lead you on a tasting journey, travelling in style in a luxury Mercedes-Benz minivan, through the three main contrasting wine sub-regions of Gibbston, Cromwell and the Bannockburn basin.
Enjoy a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery, and savour a unique 5-dish gourmet lunch cooked in retired oak barrels and perfectly matched with five wines at The Stoaker Room restaurant in Cromwell.
You will also have an opportunity to retrace history with a visit to the historical settlements of Arrowtown and Old Cromwell (when time permits). Learn about the early pioneering history and how the wine region was formed through an array of fun facts and interesting stories from your knowledgeable wine guide. At the end of the tour you will be returned to your accommodation.
Please note children aged 6 – 17 years are welcome on our daily Boutique Wine Tour. Unfortunately children under 17 years are not allowed inside the Gibbston Valley wine cave. This means that they can only join our Gourmet Food and Wine Tour or Classic Wine Tour if they are able to sit with the guide in the Gibbston Valley Winery cellar door unaccompanied by their parents/caregivers while they take part in the cave tour (approximately 30-40 minutes).
Children of all ages are welcome on our private tours but the same rules apply if parents/caregivers wish to experience the cave tour at Gibbston Valley Winery. Alternatively, we can arrange a tasting in the cellar door, or swap the Gibbston Valley Winery altogether for a different vineyard on request.
The Central Otago wine region spreads from the outskirts of Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin through picturesque valleys and dramatic gorges to the rolling vine-clad foothills of Bannockburn and beyond.
The region itself is broken into six wine sub-regions. Two of our Daily Wine Tours visit three contrasting wine sub-regions, each with their own distinctive soils, elevations and characteristics; all producing excellent aromatic and burgundy wine types.
Our carefully crafted Daily Wine Tours ensure you experience the best of the southernmost wine producing region in the world.
Tours run every day with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 adults ensuring a personalised yet social day out.
The vineyards we visit on all of our tours change daily and vineyards can be requested. Tours may include Mt Difficulty, Kinross, Amisfield and Gibbston Valley Winery.
